Grand Strand Sandwich Company Recalls “Chicken Salad Sandwiches” That May Contain Contaminated Hard Cooked Eggs Produced by Michael Foods – February 6, 2012
Grand Strand Sandwich Company of Longs, SC is recalling its 4.5oz and 5 oz Chicken Salad Sandwiches, with the following labels: Grand Strand Sandwich, Lunch Box Sandwiches, and Country Harvest Sandwiches. We are recalling the Chicken Salad Sandwiches because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although health individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriage and stillbirths among pregnant women.
This recall only affects the following Chicken Salad Sandwiches distributed in the southeast convenience stores:

The recall came about when Bost Distributing our Chicken Salad manufacture bought some of the Hard Cooked Eggs that were produced by Michael Foods. Michael Foods has an ongoing recall on those eggs. Bost Distributing was unsure if the eggs from Michael Foods were used in our product, so just to be safe we are recalling the product.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
According to Michael Foods, the recall was initiated after label testing revealed that some of the eggs within the recalled lot dates may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. A recall of three lot dates was announced on Thursday, January 26, 2012. The recall was expanded on February 1, 2012 to include additional lot dates, one of which was received by Bost Distributing.
Because these are fresh sandwiches with a very short shelf life, it is likely that some of them have already been consumed. However, consumers who may still have the product in their homes should discard it and return to the store for a refund. Summit Import Corporation Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Eggs in Bin Bin Snow Rice Cracker 5.3oz Pack and Bin Bin Rice Cracker 15.8oz Bulk Pack – February 9, 2012
Summit Import Corp., at 100 Summit Place, Jersey City, New Jersey, is recalling Bin Bin Snow Rice Cracker 5.3oz Pack and Bin Bin Rice Cracker 15.8oz Bulk Pack because the affected products contain egg which are not declared on the label. Consumers who are allergic to eggs may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled Bin Bin Snow Rice Cracker, 5.3oz, UPC Code 8 852098700124 and Bin Bin Rice Cracker 15.8oz, Bulk Pack, UPC Code 8 8520098701510, both in plastic packaging, were distributed nationwide to Asian retail stores.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem in the United States.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered the cracker products were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg.
Consumers who are allergic to eggs and purchased Bin Bin Snow Rice Cracker 5.3oz and Bin Bin Rice Cracker 15.8oz Bulk Pack are urged to return them to the place of purchase. ZIP International Group, LLC Expands Alert on Listeria in Sliced Herring Fillet in oil (forelka) 330 gram and 600 gram – February 9, 2012
ZIP INTERNATIONAL GROUP LLC, 160 Raritan Center Parkway #6, Edison, NJ 08837 is expanding its recall of sliced herring fillet (forelka) 330 gram and 600 gram in plastic packaging due to Listeria contamination. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women
The recalled sliced herring fillet (forelka) 330 gram and 600 gram in plastic packaging includes best by date 5/18/2012 . The best by date is located on the round side of the packaging and was sold to retail grocery stores in New York State. It is a product of Ukraine.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel found the product to be positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. Consumers who have purchased sliced herring fillet (forelka) should not consume it, but should return it to the place of purchase. Whole Foods Market Recalls Pumpkin Bundt Cakes For Undeclared Allergens – February 10, 2012
Whole Foods Market is recalling its 3 ounce and 26 ounce Pumpkin Bundt Cakes because the products contain undeclared milk. No illnesses have been reported to date, however people who have allergies to milk, run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled Pumpkin Bundt Cakes were made in Whole Foods Market store bakeries and sold at stores in Fresno, Monterey, San Rafael, San Ramon and Santa Cruz.
The 3 ounce Pumpkin Bundt Cakes were sold from a service case or displayed in small, clear plastic clamshells marked with a scale label #21630100000. Expiration dates prior to Feb. 13, 2012 are affected.
The 26 ounce pumpkin bundt cakes were sold from a service case or displayed in plastic dome containers with the scale label #21637900000. Expiration dates prior to Feb. 13, 2012 are affected.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product labels did not list milk, as a sub-ingredient to cream cheese.
The necessary corrections have been made for the Pumpkin Bundt Cakes currently for sale.
Consumers who have purchased either of the affected products from Whole Foods Market may return it to the store for a full refund.

Walmart Recalls Cruller Bakery Pastries Due To Mislabeled Milk Allergen – February 11, 2012
Walmart recalled its eight-count packages of Cruller bakery pastries because the common name of milk was not listed following sodium caseinate, a milk derivative, on the ingredient label. People who have milk allergies that do not recognize sodium caseinate as a milk derivative run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the product.
The eight-count packaged bakery items affected by this recall have a UPC code of 787429847 which can be found on the box label. The items affected by this recall have expiration dates of on or before Feb. 9, 2012. The pastries can be recognized as a ring-shaped twisted sweet cake similar to a doughnut. The products were labeled and sold in Walmart store bakeries in Puerto Rico and all US states with the exception of Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
All stores affected by the recall have been notified to remove and discard the mislabeled products. Corrective action has been taken to ensure all current and future products are properly labeled to reflect the common name of milk as an ingredient.
One adverse reaction has been reported by a customer. Customers with questions about this recall may call the Walmart Customer Service at 1-800-Walmart (1-800-925-6278) or return the product to their nearest store for a full refund.
