The Foundation for Food Safety Certification, the owner of FSSC 22000, celebrates reaching a memorable milestone. The 1000th FSSC 22000 certificate is recently awarded to Edesia Global Nutrition Solutions. This certificate was issued for successfully passing the audit of compliance with the FSSC 22000 scheme requirements.
FSSC 22000 contains a complete certification scheme for Food Safety Systems based on existing standards for certification (ISO 22000, ISO 22003 and technical specifications for sector PRPs). The FSSC 22000 certification scheme has been given full recognition by the Global Food Safety Initiative Board of Directors.
The list of certified organizations includes already a significant number of organizations from the international food sectors. The certificates have been issued by 60 certification bodies operating worldwide.
One can conclude that within the short period of its existence- 2 years from the date of GFSI-recognition- FSSC 22000 now is a robust, ISO-based, independently managed certification scheme for auditing and certification of food safety in the whole supply chain, fulfilling the needs for reliable food safety certification by a rapidly growing number of manufacturers and retailers all over the world.
