A sample of chocolate morsels at the Nestle manufacturing plant in Burlington tested positive for salmonella, Laurie MacDonald, a Nestle spokeswoman confirmed last week.
“The product that tested positive was not shipped to customers and there is no recall. The positive test occurred a couple of weeks ago, there is no salmonella outbreak at the plant and the plant was thoroughly cleaned. We have rigorous quality assurance protocols and procedures in place, which include testing of product during our manufacturing process. As part of our extensive quality procedures, we also tested product manufactured before and after this single positive sample, and all product tested negative. Quality is our number one priority and this is example of our extensive procedures at work.”
My comment: Clearly Nestle have systems in place to prevent contaminated products entering the food chain and this can only be applauded.
